WAUSAU, WI (WSAU) — The Chief of the Riverside Fire Department appeared in a Marathon County courtroom on Thursday, facing charges related to child enticement and 4th-degree child sexual assault.
Robert Bowen is accused of making inappropriate contact with a child who was under the age of 18. During Thursday’s hearing, he waived a reading of the complaint.
The 52-year-old is accused of committing the crimes between June 2023 and this spring.
Court records show Bowen will remain free after posting a $15,000 cash bond. Conditions include no contact with the victim or the victim’s family and no contact with any children under the age of 18 unless supervised. He’ll return to court on July 2nd.
Bowen remains on paid administrative leave with the department, which covers the City of Schofield and the Village of Rothschild. Rothschild Administrator Ryan VanDeWalle has noted that none of the alleged misconduct occurred while Bowen was on the clock for the department.
