WAUSAU, WI (WSAU) — A Marathon County woman facing her 4th OWI has reached a plea deal for the charges.
Marissa Rose Atkinson was in a Wausau courtroom on Friday where lawyers for both sides announced that they had reached a plea deal for one felony OWI and a misdemeanor charge for driving with a revoked license.
A plea and sentencing hearing was scheduled for August 12th.
Atkinson is accused of driving drunk near Schofield Avenue and Alderson Street in Weston. The incident started when officers pulled her over for a speeding violation and noticed signs of impairment.
She failed a field sobriety test and was immediately arrested. She also received a citation for failing to register her vehicle.
A 4th offense OWI penalty includes fines of at least $600 plus a minimum of 60 days in prison or jail.
The previous OWI convictions against Atkinson date back to 2020.
