WAUSAU, WI (WSAU) — A 40-year-old Wausau man accused of sharing child porn through a messenger app will not go to trial this week as planned.
Court records show Jeremy Campbell was scheduled for a three-day from June 5th to 7th, but that was wiped off the calendar in early May when his defense team requested an adjournment because they were trying to find an expert for the case.
With no objection from the state, the request was granted.
Campbell is accused of using Snapchat to share photos flagged as possible child porn. When the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children stepped in to investigate, they discovered some suspicious activity between Cambell’s account and that of a pre-teen.
Police say Campbell admitted to sending and receiving explicit images on the app. He was arrested earlier this year and released on a $10,000 signature bond on February 2nd. Conditions of his bond include no access to the internet or any internet-connected device and no contact with any children under the age of 18, with an exception for supervised contact with his family.
He has pled not guilty to the charges and faces up to 75 years in prison if found guilty at trial. Further court action will be scheduled on June 6th.
