MADISON, WI (WSAU) – The Wisconsin Badgers have lost one of their top 2025 defensive back recruits, as four-star cornerback Rukeem Stroud has had a change of heart.
According to Evan Flood at Badgers247, Stroud who is from Tampa Bay, will be staying closer to home, changing his commitment to the University of Central Florida after initially committing to the Badgers earlier this month.
When he announced his commitment to Wisconsin, Stroud told the outlet that his “recruitment is over” and “my commitment is rock solid” after the Badgers won him over during an official visit and beat out other top schools such as Colorado, Penn State, Texas A&M, and Ole Miss.
This isn’t the first time this happened to the Badgers this offseason after Middleton native and 2025 three-star defensive end Torin Pettaway told the program in March that he was flipping his commitment from Wisconsin to Minnesota before he re-committed to the Badgers earlier this month.
Wisconsin has been busy revamping their defensive back room this off-season with hopes that Stroud was going to be a long-term solution to their secondary problems, but will now turn to 2025 three-star cornerbacks Jahmare Washington and Jaimier Scott to step up next season.
