MILWAUKEE, WI (WSAU) – Trade rumors are continuing to swirl around the Bucks organization this week, and the NBA draft is set to begin on Wednesday.
According to Mike Scotto of Hoops Hype, it’s becoming known around league circles that two key players for the Bucks in recent years are available for a trade this week, saying, “Rival executives have also come away with the sense that Bobby Portis and Pat Connaughton are available on the trade market if Milwaukee can make a notable win-now upgrade. Both players, however, have been mentioned as possible trade candidates in the past, and nothing has come of it. Portis finished as a Sixth Man of the Year finalist for the second straight year.”
ESPN’s Brian Windhorst noted last week that head coach Doc Rivers is “looking for a change or two to some of their core pieces,” which may include dealing center Brook Lopez to clear some space and bring some younger and more athletic pieces.
The Bucks have both the 23rd and 33rd overall picks on Wednesday’s draft, and Scotto had the Bucks staying put at the 23rd pick and taking USC guard Isaiah Collier to become the long-term backup to Damian Lillard and provide scoring off the bench while also taking Minnesota shooting guard Cam Christie, who is considered one of the better shooters in this draft and could replace Khris Middleton at some point.
