WAUSAU, WI (WSAU) – A new post-debate poll has been released showing former President Trump separating himself from President Biden in the Badger State as questions surrounding his health become the main focus of the election.
According to the latest poll from Impact Research and Fabrizio Ward for AARP, Trump would win Wisconsin if the election were held today by six percentage points, while Democrat U.S. Senator Tammy Baldwin would hold on to her seat, defeating Republican Eric Hovde by five percentage points.
The poll was done from June 28th through July 2nd, with 600 likely voters participating. When asked about how they would grade the candidates’ job approval, Trump held a 51% approval rating, while Biden’s fell 21 points underwater to 39%, compared to Senator Tammy Baldwin, who held a 46% approval rating. Hovde’s favorability rating remained stable but low from their previous poll, at just 30%, with 36% viewing him unfavorably.
This drop for Biden in the Badger State comes as a new poll by The New York Times and Siena College reveals that 74% of registered voters believe that Biden is “just too old to be an effective president,” compared to 43% who think the same about Donald Trump.
These polls come just days after the New York Times revealed that Dr. Kevin Cannard, an expert at Walter Reed Hospital for Parkinson’s disease and a well-established campaign donor for President Biden, appeared on the White House visitor logs and met with Megan Nasworthy, the person in charge of the president’s family’s primary care appointments, at least seven times over the last year, and records of donations that the Washington Examiner obtained show that Dr. Cannard has contributed more than $3,300 in donations to the Biden campaign since February 2020, creating concerns among voters and fellow Democrats about Cannard’s ability to render an honest medical evaluation.
