GREEN BAY, WI (WSAU) – The Green Bay Packers got some bad news on the injury on Saturday as quarterback Jordan Love will likely miss a few games after suffering an MCL injury late in Friday night’s 34-29 loss to the Philadelphia Eagles.
According to Tom Pelissero and Ian Rapoport of NFL Network, Love suffered an MCL sprain believed to be between a Grade 1 and Grade 2, meaning he’ll “miss a few weeks but not extended time.”
Mild sprains generally heal within one to three weeks, according to the Cleveland Clinic, while moderate sprains can take up to four to six weeks to fully heal.
Malik Willis, who the Packers acquired from the Titans last month, and Sean Clifford, who was kept on the practice squad despite losing the backup quarterback competition, are the current contenders to fill in for Love, and the team has not provided any information if they will look at signing other free agent quarterbacks such as Ryan Tannehill or trading for another veteran backup like Joe Flacco.
