WASHINGTON D.C. (WSAU) – A report released on Tuesday showed that VP Harris’ new campaign policy website copied portions of President Biden’s campaign page as she continues to distance herself from her boss on the campaign trail.
Parts of the page were taken straight from her predecessor’s campaign page, according to left-wing media site The New Republic’s analysis of the page’s source code, and the Issues page had metadata encouraging people to reelect Joe Biden. X user Corrine Green credited other internet sleuths on Reddit who helped locate the phrase “Join our campaign to re-elect Joe Biden today” appearing in the website description and shown when links to Harris’ website were shared. This revelation comes just a matter of weeks after staffers on the Harris’ campaign told Axios that the Vice President needed to distance herself from Biden to defeat Trump in November.
A few of the policies mentioned on the website are price caps on food and groceries, support for a border bill that would allow at least 1.4 million illegal immigrants into the country annually, and a ban on assault weapons and high-capacity magazines. President Biden spoke extensively on these same issues during his time on the campaign trail before he decided to no longer run for reelection.
Former President Trump will be looking to take on Harris’ record as VP but will also focus on her record as the Attorney General of California during Tuesday’s ABC News debate. His campaign stated during a Monday press call with reporters, saying, “Kamala Harris not only has to defend her record as vice president, but it’s also really her record as president, as co-president, because she’s the one running the country.”
“Right now, you have Kamala Harris, who’s in this debate boot camp, being drilled by new advisors who worked for President Obama that she doesn’t know. She has binders full of details trying to figure out what’s been happening at the Department of Labor for the past three and a half years, trying to explain where those 800,000 jobs went.” Senior Trump campaign advisor Jason Miller continued during the call.
As it currently stands, Trump will enter tonight’s debate riding a polling surge that has lifted to a 291 to 247 advantage over Harris in the latest Focal Data model, with Trump having a 2.4 percentage point advantage in Wisconsin and Harris having a 1.3 percentage point advantage in Michigan. Harris and Trump are also statistically tied in the latest NPR/Marist poll that shows Trump with a three-point advantage with independents and first-time voters, while Harris holds a three-point lead with voters who are defiantly voting.
