WASHINGTON D.C. (WSAU) – A new report released on Thursday provides details on how the U.S.’s most elite fighting force has been preparing for an invasion of the nation of Taiwan by the Chinese Communist Party’s military forces.
According to the UK’s Financial Times, SEAL Team Six has been silently training and preparing to deploy to the island nation at the group’s top-secret base known as Dam Neck near Virginia Beach throughout the last year for China’s expected invasion of Taiwan as the communist country continues to fly military drones and jets over the island as well as practice naval invasion drills.
Chinese Communist Party leader Xi Jinping has called their upcoming invasion of the U.S. ally “inevitable” in recent months and said they’d be ready to invade by 2027, prompting Taiwan to strengthen its fighting force by raising their compulsory military service from four months to one year.
Under the Taiwan Relations Act, the United States is legally required to assist Taiwan, an island nation that produces over 90% of the most sophisticated microchips in the world, in defending itself against China. US Adm. Samuel Paparo issued a warning to China in June, stating that the U.S. would destroy any foreign forces attempting to use the Taiwan Strait for an invasion and that the water would become a “hellscape.”
The SEAL team is best known by the American public when it carried out a nighttime raid that ended with the elimination of Osama bin Laden in his Pakistani compound in 2011 and the saving of Richard Phillips, the American captain whose container ship was captured by Somali pirates in 2009.
