TWO RIVERS, WI (WSAU-WAOW) — The mother of Elijah Vue has released a statement following the discovery of her son’s remains.
Katrina Baur, who is jailed on charges of child neglect, says she was devastated by the news and was holding out hope that the Vue would be found alive.
“Katrina Baur is devastated by the most recent news, identifying the remains found as Elijah,” Baur’s attorney, Amber Gratz, said in a statement emailed to multiple Green Bay news outlets and obtained by WAOW TV. “She had continued to have hope that her little boy would be found alive. At this time, she is mourning the loss of her son.”
Vue’s remains were discovered nearly two weeks ago on private property, about three miles from where he went missing back in February. The remains were positively identified last Friday, canceling the Amber Alert.
Vue was staying with his mother Katrina Baur’s boyfriend, Jesse Vang, who told investigators that he woke up from a nap before informing the police that Elijah was gone and said Vue had gotten out of the house on his own. Since then, both he and Baur have been accused of child neglect and await upcoming appearances in court.
