WISCONSIN RAPIDS (WSAU-WAOW) – A former Norwood Health Center social worker has pleaded guilty to accessing residents’ money via credit cards and loans.
Dalton Connor, 32, of Stevens Point, faced 20 charges, including 12 counts of identity theft, three counts of theft in a business setting and three counts of money laundering among the charges, according to a criminal complaint.
In a plea deal, Connor pleaded guilty to six counts of identity theft. The other charges were dismissed but read in at a plea hearing on Wednesday according to court records. The sentencing hearing is scheduled for November 8. Connor faces more than 35 years in prison and $60,000 in fines maximum penalties.
Connor was a social worker employed at Norwood and Wood County employee. As part of his position, he had access to residents’ information, including legal names, dates of birth and social security numbers, according to the complaint.
Lew enforcement were called to Norwood Health Center for a theft when Norwood’s director found residents’ personal property, including credit card mail and bank statements in his office on June 1, 2023, according to a criminal complaint. Personal items including an ID card and a patient’s purse were found in a storage bin in Connor’s office.
