NEILLSVILLE, WI (WSAU) — Clark County Sheriff Scott Haines has announced his retirement, effective December 31st.
Haines has served the county as Sheriff since 2019. His career in law enforcement dates back to 1990.
Haines’ tenure runs through January 31st, 2027. The remainder of Haines’ term will be filled through an application process, according to a press release from Governor Evers’ office. Applications are due by the end of the business day Friday, October 11th. The application can be found on Governor Evers’ website by clicking the “apply to serve” link.
Clark County joins Taylor County on the list of areas slated for a new Sheriff in the new year. Taylor County Sheriff Larry Woebeking announced his retirement earlier this summer. The application window for that position closed in early September.
It’s unclear when the Governor’s Office will announce the winning candidate for either county.
