A ceremonial groundbreaking will be held Wednesday morning for the Westside Commons, a new affordable housing development at the former Westside Battery location.
The long-awaited project was first proposed in 2021 after several other developments, including a brewpub, fell through.
The complex will include 56 affordable housing units and an on-site office for Lutheran Social Services.
Crews have been working on the site for several weeks, digging an underground parking facility and setting steel.
Wednesday’s ceremony begins at 10 AM and the public is invited to attend.
