OSHKOSH, WI (WSAU) – The Milwaukee Bucks announced on Thursday that one of the Wisconsin Herd’s top assistants and a Wisconsin basketball legend passed away unexpectedly this week.
According to the team, Joe Wolf, who has been with the team’s G-League affiliate since 2023 and spent over a decade coaching at the college and professional level, passed away at the age of 59, saying, “Throughout his life, Joe touched many lives and was a highly respected, adored, and dedicated coach and player across the NBA. His well-regarded talent was instrumental for the Bucks and Herd over eight years with the organization, including as a player and coach.” A cause of death has not been made public by the family.
Wolf, who won three state championships and was voted an All-American in 1983 while at Kohler High School, was drafted thirteenth overall by the Los Angeles Clippers in 1987 after attending and being named a team captain at the University of North Carolina and helping to lead the Tar Heels to four NCAA Tournament appearances including two Elite Eights.
