GREEN BAY, WI (WSAU) – The Green Bay Packers could be without one of their top receivers for the next few weeks following an injury in the team’s 31-29 loss to the Vikings.
According to NFL insider Jordan Schultz, the “early belief” is that Christian Watson suffered a high ankle sprain on Sunday. Watson was carted off the field to the locker room after he sustained the injury, and Schultz reports that the team will do additional tests on Monday to determine the severity of the sprain.
The Cleveland Clinic lists that it usually takes six to eight weeks to heal from a high-ankle sprain fully and does not generally require surgery. However, once a high-ankle sprain is suffered, most patients are more likely to sprain the ankle again.
Watson has struggled to get open this season and has just five receptions for eighty total yards with one touchdown so far. Thirty-seven of those yards came from one catch during the Packers’ 16-10 win over the Titans.
