MILWAUKEE, WI (WSAU) — We know the Milwaukee Brewers begin the playoffs on Tuesday. What we don’t know is who their opponent will be.
The New York Mets beat the Brewers 5-0 on Sunday but now need to play the Atlanta Braves in a makeup DH today in Georgia. The games were postponed last week by Hurricaine Helene.
If Atlanta sweeps the DH they are in as the final wild card team and the Arizona Diamondbacks will face Milwaukee. If the Mets sweep they will be in and face the Padres while Arizona plays the Brewers. And if it’s a split it will be the Mets coming back to Milwaukee while the Braves face the Padres.
Colin Rea started the game for Milwaukee and his mission was to eat innings as he remained in the game until the 6th despite giving up five runs on 10 hits.
The Brewers managed only three hits in the game as they rested a number of starters.
The Brewers will host the first playoff game on Tuesday…pre game show at 4pm on WSAU.
