MADISON, WI (WTAQ-WRN) — The Republican Party of Wisconsin met at the Capitol Tuesday to name a slate of electors who would meet in December to cast the state’s 10 electoral votes should Donald Trump and JD Vance win the state.
Party spokesperson Matt Fischer says they’ll only be relevant if that happens.
“It all boils down to this; if Donald Trump and JD Vance win the most votes, this list of electors will have relevance and they will have a purpose,” said Fischer. “If Kamala Harris and Tim Walz win the most votes, or by some miracle a 3rd party candidate, then this list of electors will be of zero relevance and have no purpose after the election.”
In 2020, a slate of Republican electors signed paperwork seeking to cast the state’s vote for Donald Trump even though Joe Biden had been declared the winner.
Wisconsin Democrats also selected their electors on Tuesday.
