MILWAUKEE, WI (WSAU) – The Milwaukee Bucks expect to be without one of their top scorers to begin the season as he continues rehabbing from off-season surgery.
According to sources who spoke to ESPN’s Shams Charania, Khris Middleton will miss the team’s season opener against the Philadelphia 76ers because his recovery time from ankle surgery took longer than previously expected.
Middleton didn’t play in any preseason games, and he still isn’t allowed to participate in the team’s 5-on-5 drills during practice. Despite spending most of the preseason playing in 3-on-3 scrimmages, Middleton has been limited in practice, according to Bucks coach Doc Rivers, who made this announcement to reporters over the weekend.
A variety of nagging injuries have limited Middleton, 34, to just 88 regular-season games over the last two seasons. During the Bucks’ first-round playoff series in April of 2022, he suffered a knee injury, and during the 2022 offseason, he had wrist surgery. In Middleton’s absence during the preseason, Taurean Prince, a free agent signing, has been starting the games in his place and is expected to start for the Bucks on Wednesday.
