WASHINGTON D.C. (WSAU) – President-Elect Donald Trump’s electoral college is continuing to widen as another crucial “Blue Wall” state’s electoral votes have landed in his column.
According to the Associated Press, the state of Michigan has been called for Trump as he leads Vice President Harris 49.8% to 48.3%, with 98% of votes reporting, which officially marks the President-elect’s six-swing state victory out of the possible seven as Arizona is yet to be called for either candidate.
During his early morning victory speech, Trump was grateful for surviving the assassination attempt that occurred during a Butler, Pennsylvania, rally in July, saying, “Many people have told me that God spared my life for a reason. And that reason was to save our country and to restore America to greatness, and now we are going to fulfill that mission together. We’re going to fulfill that.”
President-elect Trump last won Michigan when he defeated former Democratic nominee Hillary Clinton in 2016, which marked the first time a Republican presidential candidate won The Great Lakes State since George H.W. Bush defeated Michael Dukakis in 1988.
