WAUSAU, WI (WSAU) — A Wausau man will serve federal prison time for distributing methamphetamine.
Jonathan Rodriguez will serve eight years in prison after pleading guilty to possessing meth with the intent to distribute back in August.
Charges stem from an arrest in late 2023 when officers found the 39-year-old with over 300 grams of the drug in his possession, some of which was packaged for distribution. Rodriguez reportedly told police he had just sold a pound of meth a few hours before his arrest as well.
Rodriguez was sentenced by US District Judge William Conley last Wednesday. At sentencing, Judge Conley commented on Rodriguez’s criminal history and how he spent about half his life incarcerated without making changes. Conley said he also balanced Rodriguez’s criminal record with his difficult upbringing in determining the sentence length.
The arrest was the result of an investigation conducted by the Wausau PD and Marathon County Sheriff’s Office.
