GREEN BAY, WI (WSAU) – One of the Green Bay Packers top draft picks will be returning to the team just in time to face the rival Chicago Bears on Sunday.
According to the Packers Wire, rookie running back MarShawn Lloyd’s 21-day practice window has been opened, clearing the way for him to be placed on the 53-man roster before Wednesday’s practice. Lloyd has been on injured reserve since he suffered the ankle injury during the team’s 16-10 week two win over the Indianapolis Colts.
The Packers have an open roster spot due to the pass rusher Preston Smith being traded to Pittsburgh during the NFL trade deadline last week. The team has not stated how Lloyd’s activation will change the team’s backfield rotation, as backup Emanuel Wilson and Chris Brooks have been productive over the last seven weeks, including Wilson rushing for 50+ yards against both the Titans and Cardinals.
