WAUSAU, WI (WSAU-WAOW) – At Tuesday night’s meeting of the City of Wausau’s Common Council, the council voted 9-0 to appoint Vylius Leskys to the Police and Fire Commission.
This came after his nomination failed at the council’s previous meeting.
Leskys cites his experience with several positions in the United States of America Army and as a U.S. Department of Veteran Affairs (VA) Accredited Attorney and Disabled Veteran assisting other disabled veterans to “receive the compensation they deserve for sacrifices made.”
Those in opposition to his appointment at the meeting said his resume was incomplete and it did not provide enough information. Wausau Mayor Doug Diny took some responsibility for the lack of information when the appointment initially did not pass and said he filled out some of the forms because Leskys was out of state at the time.
Alder Terry Killian also said she supported Leskys appointment during the meeting and that decisions should be based on credible information and not a witch hunt.
