MADISON, WI (WSAU) – Trailing by 3 points late in the game, the Badgers faltered on their two final possessions in a 16-13 loss to Oregon.
With just over 2-minutes remaining, the Badgers went 4-and-out and gave the ball back to the Ducks. Wisconsin got the ball back one final time. A pass by quarterback Brayden Locke was tipped and intercepted,
Atticus Sappington’s 24-yard field goal broke a tie with 2:36 remaining. The Badgers couldn’t hold a 7-point lead earlier in the 4th quarter, and outscored the Badgers 10-0 down the stretch.
The Ducks, the top ranked team in the country, improved to 11-0 and 8-0 in the Big Ten. Wisconsin fell to 5-5. The Badgers have now had leads into the second half against three ranked opponents, only to lose each of those games.
The Badgers have games remaining on the road against Nebraska next Saturday, and then against Minnesota the following Friday.
