PINE LAKE, WI (WSAU-WAOW) -One person is dead and another is injured after a two-vehicle head on crash in Oneida County on Monday afternoon.
Oneida County Sheriff’s Office responded to a call of a two-vehicle crash at 1:10pm Monday in the Town of Pine Lake on Highway 17 just south of the intersection of Mud Lake Road. When police arrived it appeared to be a head-on collision, and the operator of the southbound SUV was dead.
The operator if the northbound truck was also injured and transported to Rhinelander Aspirus Hospital and then flown to Wausau for treatment of their injuries.
Both vehicles were only occupied by the drivers.
An initial investigation says the southbound vehicle had crossed the centerline of Highway 17.
The crash remains under investigation. An accident reconstruction team was at the site Monday afternoon.
