MADISON, WI (WSAU) – The Wisconsin Badgers have landed their future quarterback.
According to a post by Rivals’ Jon McNamara, quarterback Carter Smith, the 92nd-ranked player in the 2025 class, has flipped his commitment from Michigan to Wisconsin after taking an official visit to Madison during their 16-13 loss to Oregon last weekend.
Smith’s commitment comes just days after UW flipped former Michigan defensive lineman Jaylen Williams, who is the Badgers’ highest-rated high school quarterback recruit since Graham Mertz in 2019.
Smith will face competition for the starting position in 2025 from current starter Braedyn Locke, his brother and fellow 2025 recruit Landyn Locke, and former four-star recruit Mabrey Mettauer, who many believe is the early favorite to be the Week One starter.
