MADISON, WI (WSAU) — It’s been a good week for the Michigan Wolverines. A few days after their football team upset Ohio State, the mens basketball team sent the 11th ranked Wisconsin Badgers to their first loss with a 67-64 win on Tuesday night at the Kohl Center.
It was the Big Ten opener for both teams.
Michigan 7-footers Danny Wolf and Vladislav Goldin loed the way. Goldin had 24 points and Wolf had 20.
John Tonje led the Badgers with 18 points and John Blackwell added 16 with nine rebounds.
The Badgers had five empty possessions down the stretch and didn’t score for the final 2:37 of the game. Tonje’s three quarter court heave to tie at the buzzer bounced off the back of the rim.
The Badgers, now 8-1, will travel to Milwaukee on Saturday to face Marquette.
