MADISON, WI (WSAU) – The Wisconsin Badgers have been named as the favorite to land a fellow Big Ten quarterback from the transfer portal.
According to On3 recruiting insiders Steve Wiltfong and Pete Nakos, former three-star Maryland starting quarterback Billy Edwards Jr. is expected to choose the Badgers over the Michigan Wolverines in the coming days, making him Wisconsin’s second transfer quarterback commit this week after former San Diego State quarterback Danny O’Neil announced his commitment to the Badgers on Monday morning.
Edwards Jr. went 7-7 in his fourteen career starts for the Terrapins over the last three seasons and completed 65% of his passes for 2,881 yards, 15 touchdowns, and nine interceptions this past season.
A transfer visit to Michigan was scheduled for Edwards Jr., but according to Chris Hummer of 247Sports, that visit has been canceled; he is expected to keep his visit with Virginia scheduled for this week despite the Cavilers receiving a commitment from former North Texas quarterback Chandler Morris.
