MADISON, WI (WSAU) – One of the Badgers’ top 2025 quarterback recruits announced Monday night that he will no longer be joining the program after Wisconsin landed two quarterbacks in the transfer portal.
According to his post on X, three-star quarterback Landyn Locke, the younger brother of former Badger starter Braedyn Locke, announced his decision to de-commit from the program saying, “I have decommitted and am no longer signed to the University of Wisconsin. I am thankful for the opportunity but my recruitment is 100% open.”
Both Maryland starting quarterback Billy Edwards Jr. and San Diego State transfer quarterback Danny O’Neil committed to Wisconsin on Monday and Locke, who was ranked as the 64th-best quarterback in the 2025 class by 247 Sports, would have likely been way down the depth chart and would’ve had to compete with four-star quarterback and fellow true freshman Carter Smith for the third-string job.
