WAUSAU, WI (WSAU) — A 31-year-old man will appear in Marathon County court this afternoon after a high-speed chase through Rib Mountain last weekend.
Cody Patterson is being held in the Marathon County jail and will appear in court at 2:00, according to jail records.
Court records show Patterson faces multiple traffic violations related to the chase. He’s currently booked on a probation hold.
The incident began with a routine traffic stop on Saturday. Officials said the driver of that vehicle told them there was a burglary in progress nearby. When officers went to investigate, they saw a vehicle speeding away from the scene.
Officers chased the vehicle down Rib Mountain Drive and County Road NN. The chase also went through some fields and residential yards before officers were able to terminate the chase using pursuit intervention techniques.
Some squad cars were damaged in the process including one that was disabled and needed to be towed. No officers were injured in the incident.
Investigators confirmed that the vehicle and several items inside of it were stolen, including some firearms. They also believe that the driver was involved in other crimes in recent weeks. Those incidents remain under investigation.
