GREEN BAY, WI (WSAU) – For the second time this season, The NFC’s Defensive Player of the Week for Week 15 of the 2024 season went to Edgerrin Cooper, a rookie linebacker for the Green Bay Packers.
According to the Packers, Cooper, who previously won the title in Week 8, is the first rookie to earn NFC Defensive Player of the Week twice in a season, as well as the first Packers player to do so since Clay Matthews in 2010.
Cooper was productive in his first game back from a hamstring injury, producing seven tackles, two tackles for loss, a sack on third down, a near interception, and a game-winning interception in 34 snaps in Green Bay’s victory over the Seahawks.
This season, the Packers have now won three NFC Defensive Player of the Week awards: Cooper in Week 15, Cooper in Week 8, and Xavier McKinney in Week 5. In addition, McKinney received the October NFC Defensive Player of the Month award.
