MADISON, WI (WSAU) – The Wisconsin Badgers will lose another key offensive starter to the transfer portal as they rebuild under new offensive coordinator Jeff Grimes.
According to a post on his X account, running back Tawee Walker is entering the transfer portal after only one season in Madison. Walker committed to the Badgers last summer after spending the 2023 and 2022 seasons with the Oklahoma Sooners and will have one year of eligibility remaining.
During his time with the Badgers, Walker rushed the ball 190 times for 864 yards and 10 touchdowns, while true freshman running back Darrion Dupree, who’s expected to take over the starting job in 2025, rushed the ball 79 times for 317 yards and a touchdown.
The Badgers are also expected to get former four-star running back Dilon Jones and former three-star Gideon Ituka involved in the offense next season. Neither player got an opportunity to take the field in 2024.
Walker isn’t the only major contributor to enter the portal this offseason, as wide receiver Will Pauling announced his commitment to Notre Dame earlier this week and former tight end Riley Nowakowski committed to Indiana last week.
