WSAU (Wausau, WI)— The Water Park Capital of the World is working on earning the title for both outdoor and indoor waterparks. In a release this week, Todd Nelson owner and founder of Kalahari Resorts, announced that an $85 million dollar expansion is in the works.
This expansion will add 75,000 additional square feet to the resort with the construction of the new section. This will include a glass-enclosed waterpark with a retractable roof. The roof will be open in warmer months so guests can enjoy fresh air throughout the park.
New raft slides will be included in the new edition, along with a four-lane racing slide named “The Cheetah Mat Racers”. An additional spa pool equipped with tanning ledges will also be featured, along with an adult swim-up bar.
The addition to the resort is expected to be finished by the fall of 2026.
