TOMAHAWK, WI (WSAU) — Officers in Lincoln County have identified the victim and the suspect in last week’s death investigation.
Michelle Sanderson was formally charged with homicide on Monday, with a Lincoln County judge giving the 43-year-old a $250,000 bond during the hearing. Officers believe she was responsible for the death of Richard Sanderson, who was rushed to a hospital late last week with a stab wound to the chest. He died a short time after he was hospitalized.
Richard and Michelle had been married, and witnesses say the couple was arguing before the stabbing. Michelle has denied the charges, saying Richard was hurt while working on his vehicle.
Michelle Sanderson faces one count of reckless homicide which could land her in prison for up to 60 years. She will return to court on January 23rd for a scheduling hearing.
