WAUSAU, WI (WSAU) — A former dance coach at D.C. Everest has reached a plea deal with the state for charges related to missing funds from the team’s operating accounts.
Alexandria Villiard was in court on Wednesday. Both sides requested a plea hearing, which Judge Scott Corbett scheduled for March 11th.
The 28-year-old is accused of stealing more than $12,000 from the team’s operating fund. Investigators say she would take money from team-sponsored dance clinics and funnel it to her personal Venmo account. She’s also accused of selling team costumes to a local Waterski team without permission.
Villiard reportedly told authorities the shortfall in the account was due to overspending.
She faces a felony count of theft in a business setting, punishable by up to three and a half years in prison and $10,000 in fines.
