MILWAUKEE, WI (WSAU) – Like many fans enduring the cold winter weather, the Milwaukee Brewers are already thinking about spring and have invited several of their top prospects to spring training next month to compete for a starting job on the 2025 roster.
According to Brewers insider Curt Hogg, the Brewers have invited shortstop Cooper Pratt, pitcher Jacob Misiorowski, and reliever Craig Yoho to Arizona as the team is looking to add some extra depth after losing star shortstop Willy Adames to free agency, closer Devin Williams, and former starter Colin Rea to the Yankees and Cubs.
Pratt, 20, is the early favorite to be the Brewers’ eventual everyday starter at shortstop, but he’s unlikely to start the 2025 season on the big league roster. He spent last season playing for the Brewers’ Low A minor league team, the Carolina Mudcats, and their High A team, the Wisconsin Timber Rattlers, hitting .277 and 45 RBIs. Milwaukee has been linked to veteran players like Yoan Moncada as a possible replacement for Adames but may decide to move Joey Ortiz to shortstop and name top prospect Tyler Black starting third baseman if the price to acquire a veteran is too high.
Meanwhile, both Misiorowski and Yoho have strong chances of making their big league debuts this year as they dominated opposing hitters in AAA Nashville last season. Misiorowski had a 2.55 ERA in 17 innings pitched for the Sounds in 2024 and allowed just five hits, while Yoho had a 1.26 ERA in 14 innings pitched last season.
Other top prospects like pitcher Logan Henderson, catcher Jeferson Quero, infielder Caleb Durbin, and pitcher Carlos Rodriguez are also expected to get playing time for Milwaukee this spring.
