GREEN BAY, WI (WSAU) – The Green Bay Packers have made a change to their defensive coaching staff after the team struggled late in the season to get after opposing quarterbacks.
According to Rob Demovsky of ESPN, Matt LaFleur and the Green Bay Packers are firing defensive line coach Jason Rebrovich and have lined up an interview with New York Jets defensive line coach Aaron Whitecotton as a replacement.
In 2022, Rebrovich became an outside linebackers coach with the Packers. He worked under former defensive coordinator Joe Barry before being retained by defensive coordinator Jeff Hafley when he was hired last spring.
Whitecotton has been New York’s defensive line coach for the past four seasons. In 2020, he served as Robert Saleh’s assistant defensive line coach with the San Francisco 49ers. In 2021, he joined Saleh at the Jets.
Despite Hafley’s defense generating 45 sacks this season, the defense struggled to put pressure on the quarterback, with Kenny Clark recording just one sack in 2024, Lukas Van Ness recording three, and Rashan Gary recording only 7.5 after nine sacks in 2023.
