MADISON, WI (WSAU) — Quinn Finley scored once and recorded two assists and Gavin Morrissey recorded two goals to lift the Badger men’s hockey team 6-3 over Long Island University (NY).
Simon Tassy scored one goal. Ben Dexheimer added two assists.
Both teams put up identical scoring lines in the game; Wisconsin had two goals in each period, and LIU scored once in each frame.
Tommy Scarfone made 22 saves in the win. The bulk of his work came in the second period when he stopped 13 of 14 shots.
The same two teams will play again this evening. There will be no play-by-play on WSAU. We’ll feature Badger men’s basketball instead as Wisconsin begins a west-coast swing with a game against USC. Pregame coverage begins at 1 PM, tip-off is at 2:00.
Meanwhile, the Badger women’s hockey team blasted St. Thomas (MN) 6-1.
Six different Badgers scored in the game with Lacey Eden and Kelly Gorbatenko both recording a goal and an assist. Cassie Hall and Finley McCarthy scored as well.
Ava McNaughton made 12 saves.
Wisconsin will go for the season sweep of the Tommies later this afternoon in Mendota Heights, MN.
