WAUSAU, WI (WSAU) — A Wausau man was sentenced to ten years in state prison for charges of battery in a domestic abuse setting.
Donald Warren was handed the sentence earlier this month as part of a deal that dropped additional counts of strangulation and false imprisonment.
Investigators say the 36-year-old beat a woman with a closed fist and stabbed her in the abdomen.
The unidentified victim did have a restraining order against Warren at the time of the incident. Investigators also say he threatened to kill her and hide her body “where no one would find her.”
Warren will also serve five years on extended supervision and pay the victim restitution. That amount will be decided at a later date.
Charges in the case date back to the fall of 2023.
