MADISON, WI (WSAU) — Wisconsin scored twice in the final five minutes to turn a 4-3 deficit into a 5-4 B1G Conference victory on Friday.
The Badgers built a 2-1 lead midway through the first behind goals from Christian Fitzgerald and Logan Hensler. Michigan tied the game before the first intermission, then scored twice in the second to build a 4-2 lead.
The Wisconsin rally began with under six minutes remaining in the second when Owen Mehlenbacher scored a power play goal to cut the Michigan lead to 4-3. That’s where things would stay until late in the 3rd when Fitzgerald and Simon Tassy scored to seal the win.
Tassy added two assists on his stat line. Tommy Scarfone and William Gramme split time in net, with Scarfone making ten saves between the first and second periods. Gramme finished the game, making eight saves and earning the win.
Michigan and Wisconsin will play again this evening at the Kohl Center. There will be no play-by-play on WSAU due to Bucks basketball.
