PLUM LAKE, WI (WSAU) – The Wisconsin DNR is investigating a fatal snowmobile accident in the Vilas County township of Plum Lake.
The Vilas County 911 Center was notified at 7:04 p.m. on Saturday that a snowmobiler had struck a tree at Rearing Pond Road on the shores of Star Lake, according to a press release.
After first responders reached the scene, they transported the victim to a staging location for the helicopter landing zone. The snowmobiler was declared dead at the site after crews tried unsuccessfully to save his life. Until the family has been fully notified, the deceased’s name will not be made public.
The Wisconsin DNR is investigating the incident.
