GREEN BAY, WI (WSAU) – NFL.com draft analyst Daniel Jeremiah released his first mock draft of the 2025 off-season over the weekend and agrees with ESPN’s Mel Kiper that the Packers will take a pass rusher in the first round of this spring’s NFL draft.
According to Jeremiah, the Packers should select Texas A&M edge rusher Shemar Stewart 23rd overall, saying, “The Packers love front-seven players from the SEC with outstanding traits. Stewart fits the mold.”
Stewart, who stands 6’6″ and weighs 285 lbs, was voted to the All-SEC Third Team in 2024 and the SEC All-Freshman Team in 2022. Scouts at Bleacher Report note that Stewart possesses some rare skills, saying, “Great size, length, and frame for an NFL defensive end, combined with impressive movement skills for his size,” and “As a pass-rusher, he can put offensive tackles on skates when turning speed to power.”
However, Stewart didn’t produce the high sack totals that most teams look for, recording just 4.5 sacks in three years at Texas A&M.
In Mel Kiper’s first mock draft, released last week, he had the Packers taking Marshall edge rusher Mike Green. Many believe Green will fly up teams’ draft boards after they see his skillset at the Senior Bowl and Combine later this year. Green led the nation in sacks in 2024 with 17 and was second in the nation for tackles for a loss at 23.
