WISCONSIN RAPIDS, WI (WSAU) — Wisconsin Rapids has a new Fire Chief.
The city’s Police and Fire Commission has elevated Benjamin Goodreau to the role. He has been with the department for 18 years, most recently as Deputy Chief.
He worked up to Battalion Chief in 2019 before becoming the department’s second in command in 2024.
“There is something truly special about the men and women who dedicate themselves to serving our community within this fire department. I am deeply humbled by the opportunity to serve alongside them and lead this incredible organization,” said Goodreau in a press release. “Together, we will work to enhance our services, ensuring we meet the evolving needs of our community with professionalism, proficiency, and compassion. I am honored to step into this role and continue building on the department’s commitment to excellence.”
Commission President Bruce King noted the department was lucky to have “such a strong and qualified internal candidate.”
Goodreau replaces Todd Eckes, who retired on December 31st.
