GREEN BAY, WI (WSAU) – As NFL teams descend on Mobile, Alabama, this Saturday to attend the 2025 Senior Bowl, the Green Bay Packers are expected to keep an eye on several players who could end up as top targets for the organization in the upcoming 2025 NFL Draft.
Here are the top 10 players for fans to watch for during the game:
- Ole Miss cornerback Trey Amos: The former track star and Alabama transfer started all 13 games at cornerback and led the team in pass deflections with 13 for the Rebels in 2024. Amos was named to the All-America Second Team by Sporting News and College Football News (CFN) while earning All-SEC honors. The Packers will likely let Eric Stokes sign elsewhere and cut Jaire Alexander this offseason, setting up the perfect opportunity for Amos to be a day-one starter in Jeff Hafley’s defense.
2. Iowa State wide receiver Jayden Higgins: With the injuries suffered by Christian Watson and Romeo Doubs at the end of the 2024 season, the Packers have a lot of question marks going into 2025 about their receiving core, and Jayden Higgins could solve that problem. Higgins totaled over 1,100 receiving yards and nine touchdowns for the Cyclones this past season and draws a lot of comparisons to Colts receiver Michael Pittman Jr. due to his 6’4, 215 lbs. frame. If the Packers don’t sign or trade for a veteran receiver, Higgins would be a great option for Green Bay in the 2nd round.
3. Kentucky defensive tackle Deone Walker: The Packers need a youth movement on their defensive line with T.J. Slaton set to be a free agent, and Walker, who stands at a whopping 6’6 and 345 lbs., is a physical specimen that lots of teams are expected to watch closely this weekend. Walker, who was a two-time team captain for the Wildcats, was named to the AP Second Team All-SEC in 2024. He totaled 132 career tackles, 22 tackles for loss, and 10.0 sacks, along with 13 quarterback hurries during his time at Kentucky, and could be an immediate starter in the NFL.
4. Central Florida running back RJ Harvey: The 2024 Doak Walker Award semifinalist rushed for 1,500 yards and totaled 22 touchdowns for the Knights last season and would provide the Packers with a great speed back option to pair with Josh Jacobs if MarShawn Lloyd’s injury issues continue. Scouts at NFL Draft Buzz note that Harvey has elite “lateral quickness and jump-cut ability, consistently making defenders miss in tight spaces and creating yardage where none exists” and has “blazing speed and acceleration, demonstrated by his ability to hit home runs and outrun defensive backs in the open field.” He’s expected to be available in the 5th or 6th round, making him a nice late-round pickup.
5. USC center/tackle Jonah Monheim: The Packers’ future at center remains in question after Josh Myers suffered an injury in the team’s playoff loss to the Eagles and enters free agency this off-season, making Monheim an option for Green Bay in the 3rd or 4th round in April’s draft due to his versatility at USC at several positions, including playing right tackle, center, and right guard during his college career.
6. Wisconsin safety Hunter Wohler: The Packers currently have great depth at safety but were forced to depend on Zayne Anderson late in the season due to injuries, making a dependable player like Wohler, who’s great in coverage and tackles well, a nice day three option for Green Bay.
7. Notre Dame linebacker Jack Kiser: Isiah McDuffie is a free agent this off-season, and the Packers could use a young, physical linebacker with lots of experience like Kiser, who can play alongside Edgerrin Cooper for years to come if they decide not to exercise Quay Walker’s fifth-year option.
8. Louisville cornerback Quincy Riley: The Packers need to add as much depth as possible at cornerback this off-season, and adding Riley would provide Hafley with a solid coverage corner with every Sunday starter’s skills. Riley had 2 interceptions and nine interceptions last season for the Cardinals and was an All-ACC Honorable Mention in 2023.
9. South Carolina pass rusher Kyle Kennard: The 2024 Bronko Nagurski Trophy Winner and AP SEC Defensive Player of the Year can be a star at the next level and would be a great option to start across from Rashan Gary next season as the team looks to develop a consistent pass rusher from the defensive line next season.
10. LSU offensive lineman Emery Jones Jr.: The 2024 AP Second-Team All-SEC team member can help the Packers solve their center problem as he could take over the starting right tackle job from Zach Tom, who could transition to center if they decide not to resign Josh Myers and provide Green Bay with a young swing tackle with lots of high-level experience to protect Jordan Love for the next few seasons.
Kickoff from the University of South Alabama’s Hancock Whitney Stadium is set for 1:30 p.m. on NFL Network.
