MARSHFIELD, WI (WSAU) — Marshfield’s RFQ Selection Committee will meet later this week to dissect three developers interested in the soon-to-be-vacated Weinbrenner Shoe Factory in Marshfield.
The committee is scheduled to meet on Thursday morning to conduct interviews with Madison-based Gorman and Company and Milwaukee’s J. Jeffers and Company. Then on Friday, they’ll review another Milwaukee-based developer, KG Development Group.
Those interviews come one week after the group interviewed Minneapolis-based Schafer Richardson. A fifth group also submitted their qualifications but wasn’t interviewed.

City Administrator Steve Barg previously told WSAU News that the Request For Qualification process focuses more on a developer’s track record than specific ideas for the parcel.
Weinbrenner is building a new $14.5 million factory in the Mill Creek Business Park. Construction is expected to last through the summer, with a grand opening tentatively slated for the end of this year.
The new facility will include better parking for employees and air conditioning. City leaders have no solid plans for the current factory, though Administrator Barg says they’re open to anything from housing to a mixed-use development. The committee could select a developer by the end of February.
