STEVENS POINT, WI (WSAU) — The city of Stevens Point has been named a silver-level bicycle-friendly community by the League of American Bicyclists.
According to a press release from the city, the designation honors Stevens Point’s bike-friendly roadways and trails along with a commitment to make biking an easier, safer, and more accessible transportation choice.
“As a community of about 26,000 people, we have an obligation to ensure our community is safe, accessible, and accommodating for everyone, and whatever mode of transportation they choose”, said Mayor Mike Wiza in a press release. “Receiving this level recognition highlight what we’ve accomplished and what work we have yet to do.”
Stevens Point is one of 460 communities across the country to earn the silver-level designation. There are five levels of the BFC award – diamond, platinum, gold, silver, and bronze, plus an
honorable mention category.
