WAUSAU, WI (WSAU) — A tip regarding a drug trafficking house in Wausau led police to arrest a 31-year-old man carrying 1.6 pounds of meth in a backpack.
According to a press release officers were investigating the house in Southwest Wausau in December when they learned that a suspect identified as Tyler Briggs would be bringing a significant amount of the drug to town this week.
Officers caught up to Briggs outside a Thomas Street business on Wednesday and discovered nearly 750 grams of the drug in his backpack. Authorities confirmed in the press release that the street value of the drugs was $26,000.
Briggs has been booked in the Marathon County jail and will make an initial appearance in court on Friday. Recommended charges against him include possession of more than 50 grams of meth and possession of drug paraphernalia. Briggs’ bond was set at $250,000 and he will be back in court on February 24th.
