MOBILE, AL (WSAU) – The Green Bay Packers scouts are in Alabama this weekend meeting with some of the 2025 draft’s top prospects at the Senior and Shrine Bowls.
According to insiders at Packers Nation Today, the team has hosted prospects such as Iowa State star receivers Jayden Higgins and Jaylin Noel for formal interviews, as well as Ole Miss pass rusher Princely Umanmielen, Louisville cornerback Quincy Riley, Virginia Tech defensive lineman Aeneas Peebles, Minnesota linebacker Cody Lindenburg, Utah State wide receiver Jalen Royals, Ole Miss defensive tackle Walter Nolen, Michigan defensive lineman Kenneth Grant, and UCF cornerback Mac McWilliams in recent days.
Both Nolen and Grant are projected first-round picks and could receive top 30 invites from the Packers to come to Green Bay for an official interview in the coming weeks, while Higgins, Umanmielen, and Riley are expected to be day two targets for Green Bay.
The Packers also met with rising star Harold Fannin Jr., a tight end from Bowling Green, who has dominated defenders in red zone drills and has reportedly “started to separate himself” as the best tight end at the Senior Bowl. Fannin Jr. was projected to be a late-day three or undrafted free-agent prospect in April. Both Jaylin Noel, Jalen Royals, and TCU’s Jack Bech have been viewed as the most impressive receivers at the Senior Bowl, while the Packers are also expected to speak to running backs Brashard Smith (SMU) and RJ Harvey (UCF) at some point before Saturday’s game.
Projected first-round pick pass rushers Shemar Stewart (Texas A&M) and Mike Green (Marshall) have also made some impressive plays during the Senior Bowl that include “bull rushes” that knocked over offensive linemen leading to would-be sacks. Stewart withdrew from the Senior Bowl after believing he showed scouts enough to be selected in the top 20 of April’s draft. Other Packers’ targets who’ve dropped out of the game after great workouts include defensive lineman Deone Walker (Kentucky), defensive lineman TJ Sanders (South Carolina), and edge rusher Kyle Kennard (South Carolina).
The Senior Bowl will be aired live on NFL Network on Saturday at 1 p.m. CST.
