WAUSAU, WI (WSAU) – The Wisconsin Supreme Court race is entering the final stretch, and both candidates are reporting large donations from all over the country as the parties work to take control of the high court this spring.
After receiving a $1 million payment from billionaire and far-left activist George Soros and $500,000 from Illinois’s billionaire Governor J.B. Pritzker, the Wisconsin Democratic Party provided candidate Susan Crawford $2 million last month, according to Wispolitics. Other contributions to her campaign and the party include a $250,000 donation from Reid Hoffman, a co-founder of LinkedIn, $490,000 from Milwaukee Democratic donor Lynde Uihlein, and $470,000 from Gloria Page of Los Altos, California. According to Crawford, her campaign raised about $4.5 million between January 1 and February 3 and has already spent $3.6 million.
The state GOP, which had already collected $975,000 from Diane Hendricks of Beloit and $650,000 from Liz Uihlein of Illinois, donated $1.675 million to Republican candidate Brad Schimel in January. As of right now, his campaign has raised $2.7 million and spent $2.1 million. According to the report, John Joe Rickets, the founder, former chairman, and CEO of TD Ameritrade, gave $500,000 to the GOP, making him of one the race’s largest donors this cycle.
When it comes to overall amounts pouring in from out of state, a total of 44.5% of Crawford’s funds to date have come from non-Wisconsin donors, while just 7.1% of Schimel’s funds have come from outside of Wisconsin.
These figures came just two years after left-wing Justice Janet Protasiewicz raised $1.8 million for her campaign, which cost a stunning $16.7 million.
