Wausau’s municipal garbage and recycling contract with Harter’s Fox Valley Disposal is up for discussion.
The Public Health and Safety Committee will discuss the agreement as part of Monday’s meeting. The original deal, which has been in place since 2015 and was signed by Former Mayor Jim Tipple, has the city paying $5.73 per customer per month for garbage service and $2.56 for recycling.
City leaders have the option to sign a multi-year extension with Harte’s, but Finance Director MaryAnne Groat says they recommend a bidding process.
The current contract expires on March 31st, 2026.
A copy of the current contract is included in Monday’s agenda. The meeting begins at 5:15 at City Hall.
