RHINELANDER, WI (WSAU-WAOW) Spring may be on the way, but the snowmobile season isn’t wrapped up just yet for some.
Following Wednesday’s winter storm, Vilas County officials announced trails are reopening Friday, March 7 at 8am. They thanked the 11 Vilas County Snowmobile Alliance Clubs that certified the trails are safe.
Trails in Oneida County also reopen Friday, but at noon. Officials say they will then temporarily close again at 8 a.m. on Monday, March 10 due to expected deterioration of the trails.
No such luck in Lincoln County. Officials there say the funded snowmobile trails and winter ATV trails remain closed. They say trails have become impassable due to trees and brush brought down by the snow. While other have a thick layer of slush or standing water.
